Mr. Basden focuses his practice on the representation of clients in professional liability and breach of fiduciary duty actions. It has been Mr. Basden's privilege to represent some of the finest law firms and attorneys in Texas and the United States in professional liability matters. Mr. Basden additionally handles complex commercial litigation and arbitrations involving claims of breach of contract, tortious interference, fraud, product liability, False Claims Act violations, and fraudulent transfer. Mr. Basden also has experience representing clients before both federal and state appellate courts.  Prior to joining Koning Rubarts, Mr. Basden was an associate at an AmLaw 100 firm.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Basden practiced as a certified public accountant with a “Big 4” accounting firm for three years. Mr. Basden maintains an active CPA license and routinely uses his accounting expertise to deliver additional value to clients.

Mr. Basden has been recognized by the publishers of Texas Super Lawyers as a Texas Rising Star, an honor reserved for attorneys age 40 and under (Thompson Reuters Business 2012-17).  In 2017 Texas Super Lawyers named Mr. Basden as one of the "Up-and-Coming 100" Texas Rising Stars (Thompson Reuters Business 2017).

  • Represented boutique estate planning firm in defense of several malpractice actions involving complex tax shelter strategies.
  • Represented software company in conducting internal investigation on behalf of independent audit committee.
  • Defended major marine manufacturer in several product liability and warranty actions in various Texas state courts.
  • Represented high net-worth professional in arbitration of brokerage fee dispute arising from sale of a privately-held corporation. 
  • Represented private staffing company in defense of contract dispute.  
  • Represented multiple insureds seeking defense and indemnity from their insurers.
  • Assisted in successful defense of military supplier in lawsuit involving claims of conspiracy and tortious interference. Federal court granted summary judgment on all claims against our client. 
  • Assisted in defense of ERISA lawsuit. Federal court granted summary judgment on all claims against our client.
  • Assisted in representation of commercial trucking client in litigation involving claims of fraud, conversion, negligent misrepresentation, and fraudulent transfer. A favorable settlement was negotiated for our client.
